SYDNEY, Australia November 26, 2001 Altium Limited (ASX: ALU), a leading developer of Windows-based electronic design and development software, is pleased to announce that it has released the first exclusive offer to Altium Total Support members. Until the 31st December, Altium Total Support members will be entitled to receive two powerful TASKING embedded software development toolsets free of charge as part of their membership. The software development toolsets included in the offer support the 8-bit 8051 and the 16-bit Philips XA microcontrollers. This embedded tools bundle, which has been priced at US$3290, includes TASKING s renowned Compiler, Linker, Debugger and Simulator technology for each platform, as well as its award winning Embedded Development Environment (EDE). This offer forwards Altium s move towards breaking down the barriers between hardware and software design.

Altium Limited is the first and only true single source of desktop design solutions both hardware and software - for electronics designers and developers. Altium has recognized the industry wide trend towards the increasing overlap between hardware and software design, and in response has bundled together a practical package to bring these interdependent design areas to a broader audience.

Traditionally hardware design and software development have been treated as two separate issues. However, in reality they are two sides of the same coin and, as electronics technology progresses, the ability to integrate these activities becomes critical, says Bruce Edwards, Executive Director, Altium. The 8051 and XA device families are a logical starting point for organizations that are ready to add embedded functionality to their board-level designs. Altium is committed to making this important step forward accessible to our customers.

With today s design challenges of shorter design cycles, tighter time to market requirements, reduced development time, and the need for greater reliability and cost reduction, electronics designers are aware of the important role of embedded software development in their design cycles. Altium Total Support members will be able to take advantage of Altium s wide coverage of the desktop electronic design process and by using the world-leading TASKING 8051 and XA software development toolsets, take control of the complete electronics design process. Both toolsets feature TASKING s award winning, fully integrated embedded development environment (EDE), with highly optimized compilers producing the tightest, fastest code in the industry. The TASKING 8051 toolset supports more 8051 variants than any other toolset in the market, and the TASKING XA toolset for the Philips XA 16-bit microcontroller, which includes 8051 assembly to XA code translation built in, opens up even more design possibilities.

Altium Total Support is a membership program that will revolutionize access to new technologies and features in the desktop electronic design and development industries. It provides members with continual access to the latest design tool features and technology, as well as superior levels of service and support.

The program, available by annual subscription to users of Altium s products, entitles members to download the latest product releases, program enhancements, technology add-ons, service packs and component libraries free of charge, and enables access to comprehensive technical support and exclusive technical and educational resources. Currently, to introduce Altium customers to the new program, all Altium products covered by Altium Total Support will include 12 months free membership to the scheme. Altium Total Support was released for Protel products from October 1, 2001, and for P-CAD products from November 1, 2001. Altium Total Support will be extended to cover other Altium products in the near future.

With this exclusive TASKING toolset offer to Altium Total Support members, Altium continues to break down the barriers to innovation and technological advancement by ensuring that its customers are always equipped with the best technology in the industry that covers the entire electronic design process.
